I. LOVE. PHOTOGRAPHING. PROPOSALS. 😀 Anthony contacted me all the way back in June to ask me about photographing his surprise proposal to his now fiancé, Christina. The awesome power of Google had led him to my previous blog post of a proposal I captured at the same state park almost two years ago, and I am so glad he reached out to me! Anthony and Christina are both from the Pittsburg area, but Christina is currently living in Virginia as she attends P.A. School, so the Grayson Highlands are not far from her. They both love to hike and went hiking in the Highlands on one of their first dates, so Anthony thought this would be a perfect proposal spot!

Anthony even got both of their families in on the surprise and had them drive down from Pittsburg and hike up with me to surprise Christina after he proposed. The morning of the proposal I met up with their families and we hiked to the spot that Anthony and shown his uncle the day before. There were lots of large rocks that the family could hide behind and Casey and I stood right near the spot Anthony would propose, acting like hikers who had stopped to take a few photos of the scenery… which was absolutely beautiful by the way. The fog crept in and out of the mountain tops of the Blue Ridge Parkway in the distance, and luckily the rain held off until we were leaving the park.

As I heard a hush come over their hiding families, I knew the couple must be approaching. As soon as they got close Anthony hopped down on one knee and pulled out a gorgeous engagement ring made with a diamond that belonged to his Grandfather (HOW sweeet!?), and he asked Christina to be his forever. Right after she said yes and leaped into his arms, their families broke out into a roaring cheer and came running out from behind the rocks to congratulate the couple. Christina was in total shock and so excited to see their families there. They popped some champagne and continued with hugs as Christina showed off her new ring.

After a few portraits on the rocks, the family headed back down the trail to regroup and get ready for more celebrating at a local restaurant that evening. Casey and I had so much fun meeting these fun families and getting to capture such a sweet moment for this great couple.
