Alyssa and Shane are one of my 2018 wedding couples and Casey and I were SO excited to shoot their engagement session. Alyssa and I were in a Sea Turtle Biology class together at UNC Greensboro and spent a whole year hanging out with sea turtles and each other. We’ve gone from the rainforest of Costa Rica, to the turtle hospital at Topsail, and now to both of us being engaged! Alyssa was always so fun and bubbly and after meeting Shane and spending some time with his jokes and adventurous spirit, I knew they really are perfect for each other.
They first met and became friends when they were both interning at the NC Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores for the summer (the same time I was interning at Fort Fisher actually), and were then reunited when Alyssa transferred to NC State the next year. They’ve spent the past year living in the Virgin Islands working as Scuba Instructors and Dive leaders… the dream, right?! But their whole world came crashing down when this year’s hurricane season hit the islands so hard, they had to evacuate. The one positive note is that they’ve finally been able to start wedding planning with this free time back home, something they’d been putting off since they were living so far away.
I’m so honored that they chose me to document their special day and can’t wait for next Fall! Here’s some of my favorites from their engagement session at the gorgeous Blackwood Farm Park and the Chapel Hill area. These are some of my new all-time-favorites, so I hope you love them as much as I do!
