Not even a hurricane could stop these two from tying the knot… no really, they got married during a hurricane, and it was still fabulous! Shan and Matt were super nervous about continuing on with their wedding after talks of a category 4 hurricane began, but after you spend months and months planning something this significant, even the threat of a hurricane can’t put a damper on your plans. Luckily, Hurricane Fran didn’t hit the NC triad area nearly as hard as some were predicting, and we even had a few minutes of no rain where we were able to take some portraits outside.
It was also lucky that Wake Forest University’s Wait Chapel is absolutely gorgeous on the inside and allowed for even more beautiful naturally-lit photos. Instead of doing a first look, they shared a prayer before the ceremony and Matt kept his back turned so he didn’t see his bride until she was walking down the aisle. Shan and Matt’s ceremony was right around the corner from Wait Chapel, in the more intimate, Davis Chapel. Then their guests made the quick drive to Medaloni Cellars for a delicious five course meal accompanied by local wines and good conversation.
We were so honored to photograph such a sweet and intimate celebration for Matt and Shan, and we are so happy everyone stayed safe in the storm!
Enjoy!
