Hannah and Steven’s Intimate Wedding at The Holt House in Lexington, NC

Hannah and Steven’s wedding at The Holt House was intimate, joyful, and filled with thoughtful details from beginning to end. Located in downtown Lexington, North Carolina, The Holt House provided a beautiful setting for every part of their celebration, from a sweet first look inside the historic home to their garden ceremony, pavilion reception, and sparkler exit on the front steps.

As a wedding photographer, I love celebrations that feel personal to the couple, and Hannah and Steven’s day was exactly that. With a small bridal party, a relaxed atmosphere, and plenty of time to celebrate with the people closest to them, their wedding felt warm and meaningful from start to finish.

A Sweet First Look Inside The Holt House

Hannah and Steven began their wedding day with a first look inside The Holt House. Steven waited downstairs while Hannah made her way down the staircase toward him. It was such a sweet, quiet moment before the excitement of the ceremony began.

First looks are always special to photograph because they give couples a few minutes to slow down and take everything in together. Hannah and Steven were able to see one another, enjoy a private moment, and settle into the day before joining their family and friends outside.

Their bridal party was small and personal, with two bridesmaids and Steven’s brother standing alongside them. The intimate group made portraits feel relaxed while still including some of the people who meant the most to them.

An Intimate Garden Ceremony in Lexington, NC

The ceremony took place in the side garden at The Holt House. The outdoor setting felt perfectly suited to the intimate size of their wedding, creating a welcoming space for their guests to gather and watch Hannah and Steven exchange vows.

One of the things I love about photographing weddings at The Holt House is the variety the property offers. Couples can move from the character-filled rooms inside the house to the gardens, patio, pavilion, and front lawn without leaving the venue. Hannah and Steven’s wedding made beautiful use of each of these spaces throughout the day.

After the ceremony, guests moved to the patio for cocktail hour. This gave everyone time to mingle and celebrate while we finished family, bridal party, and newlywed portraits around the property.

A Pavilion Wedding Reception Filled With Dancing

The reception continued beneath The Holt House pavilion with dinner, music, and plenty of dancing. The covered space created an open-air reception atmosphere while keeping everyone together for the evening’s celebrations.

Later in the night, Hannah changed from her wedding gown into a short white dress and Birkenstocks. It was the perfect dancing outfit and such a fun reflection of her personality. Comfortable shoes are always a great choice when you plan to spend the rest of your wedding night on the dance floor!

Hannah and Steven also passed out individual bags of popcorn as a late-night dance floor snack. It was a simple, playful detail that guests could grab without having to step away from the music. Between the popcorn, the packed dance floor, and the relaxed pavilion setting, the reception felt like a true celebration.

A Sparkler Exit on the Front Steps

At the end of the evening, guests gathered outside the front of The Holt House with bubbles in hand. Hannah and Steven made their way down the front steps and through the bubble tunnel as everyone cheered them on.

A bubble exit was the perfect ending to their wedding day and created one final joyful moment to photograph before the newlyweds headed off together.
