Bluemont Vineyards Wedding – Mollie & John

Virginia Vineyard Wedding Photographer

Mollie and John were finally able to celebrate their marriage in front of their family and friends at their family’s Virginia vineyard wedding venue the way they had always imagined, and you guys, it was SUCH a fabulous day!

These two have known each other since they were little and have been best friends for as long as anyone can remember. They have weathered the long distance of college and since then they’ve moved around with John’s time in the Army. From the difficulties of deployment, to living together in new places, their relationship has continued to grow stronger and sweeter through all the trials.  Everyone we spoke to talked about how their love was definitely written in the stars and always meant to be, and just by spending a few minutes with John and Mollie I think this sentiment is absolutely true.

They were officially married in front of their immediate family last year during the pandemic, but the celebration and ceremony of their dreams happened just a few weeks ago at Mollie’s family’s gorgeous vineyard, Bluemont Vineyards. The girls got ready at Mollie’s grandparents house while the guys hung out at the family’s brewery which is right beside the vineyard.

After Mollie and her girls arrived to the barn at Bluemont Vineyards, it was time for her to get into her wedding dress. As soon as she got into her dress she decided to read her heartfelt letter from John aloud to their moms and sisters and by the end everyone was in tears – including me. Following the happy tears and lots of hugs it was time for Mollie’s first look with her dad which was such a sweet moment. Once dad pulled himself together and the two shared some hugs we got her groom in place and they had a precious first look under the pine trees. So much love and excitement was bubbling up between these two. After a few portraits with their bridal party it was time for them to cool off inside and get in hiding as their guests started arriving.

The ceremony took place in front of the barn with the Blue Ridge mountains as their backdrop and every little detail was absolutely stunning. With mismatched terracotta pots filled with plants and white flowers and an arbor dripping in greens it was the picture-perfect place to say I do (again) this time in front of their families and friends. Since one of their officiants now lives in Hawaii he brought them each a traditional Hawaiian lei and incorporated that into their ceremony. Mollie’s grandfather stood up to pronounce them husband and wife and it was such a sweet and special touch.

Now usually the family portraits that follow the ceremony are a quick and many times chaotic time of the day, but this was probably my favorite part of Mollie and John’s wedding day because for their final huge family photo they decided to announce that they were having a baby and we were able to capture the most genuinely joyful reaction from their extended family. We were so honored to be part of such a big announcement and the photos we got were absolutely priceless.

After all the excitement about baby, Mollie and John were finally able to breathe a little easier and enjoy the rest of the evening. Following a few newlywed portraits in the vines the reception began with their first dance and was followed by a super delicious dinner. Toasts were made to the happy couple, the cake was cut and then the dance party started. Lots of dancing and mingling and delicious desserts made for a fabulous evening that we wrapped up with a few nighttime portraits under the gazebo and an American flag tunnel exit.

There were so many precious parts to this wedding day and we loved getting to capture every single one. Mollie and John we are SO incredibly happy for you guys and truly we cannot wait to watch your love and your family grow in the coming months. Congrats again!
