With labor day being the Monday following your wedding, this means that your Sunday Childress Vineyards Wedding doesn’t have to be the typical Sunday afternoon ceremony with a quick lunch time reception. No, no, this gorgeous black-tie, Sunday wedding was just like your typical Saturday night party…oh and party we did. So many of Jessie and Greg’s friends and family stayed out late to celebrate their love with lots of dancing and delicious Childress wines.
First of all, I need to mention that Jessie’s dress was kind of a big deal. 🙂 Since Jessie and Greg got into a pretty bad car wreck shortly after getting engaged, she had to put a lot of the wedding planning on hold, especially one of the most important parts, finding the perfect dress. Once she recovered enough to finally try on some dresses, she decided to go big or go home, and made the trip down to Atlanta to the infamous Bridals by Lori dress shop which is featured on TLC’s popular show “Say Yes to the Dress – Atlanta“. Since she had waited so long, and felt it was crunch time, she was super nervous about not being able to find the perfect gown, but let me tell you, the Marisa collection dress she chose was indeed perfection.
So on the day of the wedding Jessie didn’t want anyone, not even her beloved bridesmaids to see her dress before she walked down the aisle. Only her mother and sister helped her get ready, and she had the sweetest Daddy-daughter first look. On a quick side note, the dainty blue ribbon you see with her details is also super sentimental to Jessie and her Dad. This is the ribbon she wore in her hair the day her Dad had his cancer removal surgery (light blue is the color for prostate cancer awareness). She wasn’t sure her father would make it to her wedding day, so this first look was extra special for them. Needless to say, a little later, as Jessie made her grand entrance into the ceremony space, there wasn’t a dry eye in the room.
Jessie and Greg met through the Appalachian State marching band and their wedding party was filled with so many of their fraternity brothers and band mates that it felt like a big college party. Seriously y’all, the dance floor has NEVER been as full and fun as it was for this wedding. Also the fact that Greg and about 25 of his “brothers” serenaded Jessie with their angelic a’cappella voices during the middle of the reception made my heart melt and made me miss those fun college days (where I may or may not have been an a’cappella groupie – shout out to the UNCG Spartones and Sapphires).
Casey and I felt so blessed to be a part of such a sweet and beautiful day. These two lovebirds will be honeymooning in Hawaii come January, once Jesse finishes up her student teaching, and I’m still trying to convince them to let me go with them as they cruise around the islands! 😉
Enjoy!
