Asheville NC Elopement – Homewood Event Center – Callie & Chris

A few weeks ago, (right before COVID 19 caused lots of changes in our lives), we had the pleasure of photographing a super sweet Asheville elopement for Callie and Chris. We headed to the gorgeous little castle-esque venue that always reminds me of a fairytale, Homewood Event Center. Callie got ready with her mother and grandmother as Chris hung out with one of their closest friends who was actually going to be marrying them.

The guest list consisted only of their immediate families, a total of 6 people, plus their friend who acted as their officiant. The two were married in the main room of Homewood in front of the massive stone fireplace that was elaborately decorated with gem-colored florals and lots of candles. The ceremony was short and sweet, and exactly what Callie and Chris had hoped for. Following the ceremony we took a few family portraits in front of the fireplace and then the newlyweds headed outside for more portraits as their family popped open the bubbly for mimosas and cut into the chocolate cake.

For their portraits Callie and Chris wanted to incorporate a patchwork quilt that had been in Callies family for many years, as well as their beloved frisbee, an ode to how they met. I LOVED that they wanted to include these personal touches and it made for some really fun photos.

Once we finished up the photos of the newlyweds, we came back in so that they could also enjoy mimosas and cake with their families before they made their way to one of their favorite restaurants for a private lunch.

Even before everything with the Coronavirus, I would say that this was such a lovely and intimate way to wed. Now considering the current state of our country and the struggles that many couples who were planning their big weddings are facing, I’d call this is a beautiful alternative for anyone to consider.
